About me

My name is Kelly Warren. I am currently a senior at Forsyth Central High School. In my free time, I enjoy participating in Forsyth Central's Mock Trial club. In mock trial we receive a court case based off of a real court case and we developed a theory to battle it out in court against other schools. After school, I intern for a law firm named Zeliff|Watson. I chose the law field due to my parents both having gone to law school and becoming attorneys. The atmosphere I was raised around caused me to become interested in seeking a field in law. I am not quite sure yet what field of law I want to pursue after college but I am interning at a criminal justice firm due to my strong beliefs in abolishing injustice in our criminal justice system.

Like I mentioned in my about me statement, I intern at Zeliff|Watson criminal justice law firm. My bosses name is Peter Zeliff. Mr. Zeliff co-owns his firm with Evan Watson. At the firm, I intern for Mr. Zeliff personally. He assigns me arrest videos to watch and take notes on. The purpose of this is to watch for tiny details that Mr. Zeliff may have missed when watching it. I also have to write down any specific quotes I hear spoken that may help our clients. After watching the videos, I use google scholar to find past court cases that set precedents for the case we are currently handling. I also help out the paralegals with some filing for the attorneys since they get backed up with cases.

About my internship
About my future

My plans for the future are to attend Georgia College and State University. I plan on pursuing a major in Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish and if I have the opportunity to double major then I would add a major in History. After 4 or 5 years in undergraduate school I hope to attend a graduate school in New York, hopefully Columbia University or St. Johns University. This internship is first-hand experience into what a daily life looks like for a person who pursued law. My internship is teaching me what I want/do not want to pursue in the future.
